Omni Consumer Products

Omni Consumer Products (OCP) is a hypercorporation that creates products for virtually every consumer need, has entered into endeavors normally deemed non-profit, and even manufactured an entire colony, New Detroit and it’s flagship model planned community, Delta City, to be maintained exclusively by the corporation.

OCP is a megacorporation with divisions affecting nearly every level of consumer need, society, and government in the inner system. Their products range from consumer products to military weaponry and private space travel. Their projects included the RoboCop program from before the fall, the ED-209, and other less-successful early cyborgs. OCP owns and operates a privatized New Detroit Police Department and have been rumored to employ criminals to achieve their goals.

OCP, has sought to fully privatize “Delta City”, a manufactured municipality governed by a corporatocracy, with fully privatized services — such as police — and with residents exercising their representative citizenship through the purchase of shares of OCP stock. They also serve as part of the military–industrial complex of the Planetary Consortium; according to OCP executive Richard “Dick” Jones, “We practically are the military.” A claim that angered the Direct Action leadership enough to prompt a redaction of the claim later on. Though in all seriousness, much of Direct Actions Consortium -supplied equipment is manufactured in the plants of OCP. Jones remarks with pride that OCP has “gambled in markets traditionally regarded as non-profit: hospitals, prisons, space exploration. I say good business is where you find it.”

OCP faced hostile takeover in the early days after the fall by a Japanese Zaibatsu, the Kanemitsu hypercorporation. And in fact, did spend 16 months as a Kanemitsu subsidiary, OCP remained in charge of the creation of New Detroit and the construction of Delta City. In a stunning executive coup, OCP’s up-and-coming VP James Murphy, cleverly saw to it that Kanemistu’s brutal policies concerning Delta City were brought to light, causing many of OCP’s majority shareholders sell their stock, and OCP itself was forced into bankruptcy., allowing him to take control, buying up the derelict stock and revitalizing the hypercorp to it’s former glory, independent of Asian control.

Currently OCP is controlled by a brash young executive Damien Lowe who, through murder and reallocation of resources, ascended to power and initiated a plan to automate Delta City under a new artificial intelligence, S.A.I.N.T. (short for Sentient Artificial Intelligence NeuralNet Terminus), an artificial intelligence developed by Ed Hobley during his time working for Lowe Technologies. When Lowe Technologies was sold to Omni Consumer Products, S.A.I.N.T. was placed on the backburner of OCP’s development slate due to extreme positions against all but the most placid AGI’s.

When OCP was facing bankruptcy due to delays in the creation and maintenance of Delta City, as a result of Kanemitsu directives, Lowe, who was seeking the glory that would come from S.A.I.N.T., ordered it to be rushed into production and assigned it automation duties over the OCP complex as he felt it would be able to eliminate the cost overruns in Delta City. When he became Chairman after the Chairwoman’s death, Lowe put even more demands on rushing S.A.I.N.T. into production. Delta City will see completion by the end of this year.
